week 10

week 10

Stellated icosahedron. The relationship between the lengths of the edges in the inner icosahedron and the stellation points is the golden ratio; each stellation is a golden pyramid. Symmetries are found through aligning the view and light source. I want the viewer to discover the […]

Summary of research

Summary of research

I started the Final Major Project researching into consciousness and wanting to combine this with my interest in natural science/ phenomena. However this quickly morphed into research discovering the interconnected nature of the universe in terms of it’s repeating patterns. This then lead me onto […]

week 9

week 9

Experimenting with arrangement of hanging the structures in the space.

week 8

week 8

Icosahedron made from acetate printed with the flower of life, and shadows of stellated dodecahedron: Testing large projections in the space:

week 7

week 7

Investigating symmetries and composition of shadows created from a strung icosahedron.

week 6 – structures in space

week 6 – structures in space

Focusing on the structures projected on all walls of the space, thinking about scale and practicalities of light sources. In preparation for installing in an immersive and interactive space.

week 5 – strung icosahedron

week 5 – strung icosahedron

Stringing pentagrams in an icodahedron frame constructs a setallated dodecaderon. The relationship between lengths in a pentagram is the golden ratio, thus these platonic solids relate to natural growth.

week 4 – Icosahedron

week 4 – Icosahedron

Considering the different perspectives of an icosahedron.

Week 2

Week 2

Constructing geometric shapes with cocktail sticks. The quickest way to materialise and exercise my ideas in 3 dimensions.  I find the shadows created from these shapes inserting as new patterns appear and gives a different perspective to the form.

Week 1 – experimentation with geometry

Week 1 – experimentation with geometry

Since shifting my focus onto geometry I am interested in looking at form and how light and shadows can be created by them.   Inspired by my facade project, I experiment with joining varying triangles.         Then I am interested in cutting […]

Week 1

Week 1

“A human being is part of the whole called by us universe,  a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of […]

The Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio

The golden ratio has fascinated me for a few years now. Through studying art I discovered rules of composition when planning my paintings – the most successful ones (visually pleasing) followed the golden ratio rules.   Great art has been based off of this rule […]

Questions

Questions

Conceptual art is often about posing questions. The art rarely gives the answer, but allows the viewer to contemplate the question. Many people, however don’t think very profoundly about what they see and experience in life so a lot of conceptual art is inaccessible. Elaborated […]

Final major project introduction

Final major project introduction

Nature, psychology, abstraction, colour, form and immersive experience are my fascinations within art, and in general. For my FMP I want to try and combine these interests. I have recently discovered the concepts that motivate my work, which are mainly science related. So, natural science […]
